Protocol: Vitamin D Wellness

Looked at supplements recommended and chose the following:
Live Conscious K2+D3 Soft gels (5000 IU D3, 100mcg K2)
Doctors Best D4 Soft gels (5000 IU D3)
Your Supplements Magnesium Glycinate (80mg elemental magnesium)

D3 needs the K2 to metabolise.  D3 also pulls magnesium, so magnesium needs supplementing. K2 takes calcium into bones and teeth, not into blood and organs, and magnesium keeps it there.

Magnesium needs to be taken at least one hour apart from a calcium rich meal (and four hours away from Thyroid medication)

PPIs can block mineral uptake

Prior to starting protocol: end of December started eating kefir fermented vegetables and drinking approx 300ml of Water Kefir a day (Both from Tibico) .    I started to wake up fewer times in the night and began having vivid dreams for the first time in several years.  I began to space out my PPI medication so I wasn't taking it every day.    In January I started to make my own water kefir and am drinking about 500ml a day. I'm continuing to eat the water kefir fermented veg every couple of days.

I had blood tests done around 8th January (Blue Horizon thyroid, including Vitamin D, B, Magnesium, etc;  Gettested Amino Acid test (I didn't realise the Kefir was likely to affect this) in anticipation of supplementing my diet with Amino Acid tablets.

Blue Horizon showed that my Folate level is very low, so I need to look at addressing this.  However, I need to get the Vitamin D protocol get established before I add anything else.


WEEK 1 (Tue 14 Jan - Mon 20 Jan 2025) Initial week dose,
Tue 14th January 2025, eve, started week 1 of protocol with 2x Magnesium (Your Supplements Magnesium Glycinate, which actually have just 80 of elemental magnesium)

Wed 15th Jan 2025, immediately after breakfast containing at least 14g of healthy fat, started week 1 of protocol with 1x Live Conscious  K2&D3


WEEK 2 (Tue 11 Jan - Mon 27 Jan 2025) Start Full dose
Tue 21st Jan 2024, evening,  increased magnesium to 3 capsules
Wed 22nd Jan 2025, 1xLive Conscious K2&D3,  plus 1 of Doctors Best Vitamin D3

Thur 23rd Jan 2025 increased magnesium to 4 capsules then to 5
 

WEEK3 (Tue 28 Jan - Mon 3 Feb 2025) Continue Full dose

Tue 28th January, I  had to take a PPI.  I hadn't taken one for a while. I resisted taking another one   I read somewhere that Slippery Elm Bark can actually heal the gut lining, so I ordered some of that.

I started to get toothache.   From Thursday 30th, I increased my Magnesium to 6 tablets (each tablet is 80, and I'm supposed to be taking 500 in total).  

On Sat 1st Feb, I started to feel the stirrings of acid rising. II'd  been away without my Mother Root so it wasnt a surprise.  The slippery elm bark had arrived, so I took one, and some Mother Root. the symptoms decreased and I didn't take a PPI.   

I've taken 1x slippery elm bark every day since, and I've tried to remember to drink the Mother Root as well.   My stomach doesn't feel completely placid,  but I haven't had to take a PPI yet.

My home made water kefir is doing well, and I am drinking quite a lot.  I am continuing to drink a small amount of the Tibico water kefir as well.


WEEK4: (Tue 4 Feb  - Mon 10 Feb 2025) Continue Full dose

For my D3, I am taking 10000 IU every day (2 gels).     Up to now I have been taking 1 D3 gel, and 1 D3 gel which has 100mcg K2 in.   I didn't want to double the K2, as "Vitamin K" enhances clotting.  I am aware that it is actually K1, not K2, that does this, but I wanted to avoid anyway.   However, I'm still getting some aches,  so I am going to make the second gel a combined D3/K2 gel.

I'm continuing with the slippery elm bark,  copious water kefir,  1xmother root,  and fermented veg 

I'm going to start taking Amino Acid supplements (which is to do with my Thyroid, not the Vitamin D Wellness)  I was going to wait until my amino acid blood test results come through (they shouldl have been through by now), but I'd like to get this underway so that when I ask for my Thyroid blood tests to be done in a couple of months time,  I may be able to see if this is making a difference (I can compare the results with the results of the test I paid for privately a month ago).  If the private test shows that I don't need, then I can just stop.
